Grande Prairie Music Teacher Association Workshop

Part 1: Running an Effective Music Lesson Studio

Whether your teaching schedule has 10 students per week, or 40+ students per week, running an efficient music lesson business is important to minimize burnout, maintain high value as an instructor, and avoid administrative conflicts. This presentation will go through some tips and tricks for making the most out of viable teaching hours, outline policies and guidelines for avoiding administrative headaches, and will touch on some helpful digital tools to make lesson prep less time consuming, and more effective.

Part 2: Tapping into the Digital Age of Social Media Marketing

Whenever you charge a general member of the public for your services, you are considered a business. As a business owner, marketing is an important aspect of growing your business, and it is more crucial in today’s age to have an online presence. In this workshop, Esther will share 9 Practical Tips for Social Media Marketing. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, or just looking to learn, Esther will touch on concepts such as branding, building your community, content strategy, and planning your marketing efforts with confidence and fun!

Bio:

Ashley Clayton is a local guitar instructor and theory enthusiast who has been teaching in Grande Prairie, Alberta since 2011. She has a Diploma in music from Northwestern Polytechnic, her ARCT in history and theory from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and currently teaches guitar, bass, and theory out of a private downtown studio, AC Music.

Bio:

Esther Ling is a Canadian pianist, composer, singer-songwriter and recording artist currently based in Grande Prairie, Alberta. With a Diploma in piano performance from Northwestern Polytechnic, she is an active performer, composer and music coach in the community; supporting local musicians, ensembles, schools and music students as an accompanist and keyboard player. 

She successfully and independently released her first single, “Pink Walls” (2024), which brought a profound message on domestic violence; it was featured on CBC Radio, CKUA Radio, independent radio stations worldwide, and used by women shelter organizations in domestic violence campaigns across USA and Canada. She has since released a single and a piano composition on her own, and continues to build an online community through digital marketing, sharing her new music and songwriting with her audience.
